'What To Consider When Choosing
a
Breed Of Dog'
It's pretty obvious that all dogs are not
created equal. With that in mind, as you start comparing dogs to see
which types might make the best pet for you and your family - some things to consider
when choosing a breed of dog are:
-
Height and Weight: do you need a small
dog for an apartment or a tiny yard, like a Chihuahua? Or are you
on a farm or ranch and have plenty of space for a large dog like a
Collie? Maybe something in between like a Cocker Spaniel?
-
Temperament – Do you prefer a
hyper-pooch who yips at every sound to alert you 24/7? Or would
you like a mellow hound who’ll relax on the couch with you?
How
about one that’s great with children like a Golden Retriever?
There are many types of tempers.
Or maybe you need a companion for
an elderly person, a small dog who enjoys being in a lap or
recliner with grandpa? All types of energy levels are out there.
Or would you prefer a short haired
pooch with little clean up involved, less time brushing?
Research dog
breeds to find the qualities you prefer. As you're choosing a
dog breed, you’ll find many varieties
out there from Afghan Hounds to Dalmatians to Pomeranians to
Yorkshire Terriers and many more.
Wow - and that’s only a very small sampling of dog breeds out
there!
